The crowd still loud from the winning announcement, all in from the two fast girls. Squeaky, sitting in a bench, and Raymond, standing next to her, was still smiling at Gretchen. Gretchen’s friends came up to her, having a conversation of the race. â€Å"You should’ve been faster, you know. You could’ve beaten the kid!† yells Mary Louise. Rosie jumps in saying, â€Å"Yeah, a few more inches and you could’ve won!† Gretchen says calmly, â€Å"I’ll be right back, ok.† â€Å"Where are you going!?† Mary Louise says. Gretchen, not saying anything, walked over to Squeaky, still smiling. She sat down next to her. â€Å"You were really fast out there,† Gretchen said. Squeaky stated, â€Å"Um, thanks.† â€Å"Mary and Rosie said you were slow, and that I could’ve won. They were wrong. I don’t think they re really good friends, now if I look at it.† â€Å"I don’t think they are, either.† Squeaky wanted to ask Gretchen a question about Raymond and helping her coaching him. She was afraid to ask, thinking she might say something rude. She asked anyway. â€Å"Gretchen,† Squeaky said. â€Å"Would you, um, like to help me coach my brother Raymond? I mean, you are as pretty fast like me, you know.† â€Å"I-† Gretchen was saying, but got interrupted by Mary Louise. â€Å"What are you doing with her and pumpkin head?† Mary Louise questioned. â€Å"I told you not to be with them.
